In 1983, dedicated parents like you established the Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF) to make up for a lack of state funding resulting from voter decisions in the 1980s.

Today, parent volunteers continue to work tirelessly to support the education your child receives in our Walnut Creek schools. Foundations like ours allow families to invest in your child's education with tax-deductible donations and, ultimately, invest in our community.
Good schools connect our community, maintain property values, and produce the next generation of thoughtful, engaged leaders.

California ranks below the national average when it comes to per student public school funding.

​Here in Walnut Creek, our 5,000 students receive even less than the average due to how our schools are funded. That's why your donations to WCEF are critical to what programs are offered at our schools, from the first day through graduation.

WCEF supports all students equitably from TK-12. From weekly art, music, and science lab classes in all elementary schools, to 12 additional electives and math support in middle school, your gifts make an impact. Visit WHAT WE FUND to find out more.

HOW IT WORKS

 Parents, businesses, and community members donate annually to WCEF

WCEF grants the money to the Walnut Creek and Acalanes School Districts.
​In 2022-23, WCEF has promised $1.4 million

Districts pay for salaries, programs, and additional classes at 8 schools.
To ensure equity, funds are distributed equally based on  number of students.

where does the money go?

GRADES TK-5

• Weekly enrichment classes in the Arts, Music, and Science Lab
• Salaries for 20+ Instructional Specialists 
• Library support
• TK-8 District Librarian
  

GRADES 6-8

• Additional electives (Robotics, Computer Sciences, Digital Arts, Music, World Languages & more) 
• ​Full-time Credentialed Librarian 
• TK-8 Math Coach to deepen instruction and learning

GRADES 9-12

• Additional core academic classes - ensuring the 7-period day, smaller class sizes, more student choice
• More classes geared toward college readiness like Advanced Placement/Honors
• Career pathways like Medical Careers, Auto Engineering, Hospitality
• ​Support of the Wellness Center, serving the social-emotional needs of all students

Forma GYM turkey trot
​a thanksgiving tradition

Since 2015, our schools have received more than $100,000 thanks to the Forma Gym Turkey Trot. A local tradition on Thanksgiving morning, thousands a racers descend on downtown Walnut Creek every year in costume, teams, and with families to celebrate the giving season. WCEF also coordinates 250+ volunteers for the race.

The Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF TK-12) raises funds to preserve and enhance the education of each student in the Walnut Creek School District and Las Lomas High School in the Acalanes Union High School District through a broad-based community effort.
