Walnut Creek Education Foundation Endowment Fund

When Walnut Creek School District Superintendent Michael W. De Sa passed away in October of 2006, in lieu of flowers, his family requested that donations be made in his name to WCEF. Mike's wife Lisa, and children Caitlin and Sam, eventually proposed using a portion of these funds to start a memorial scholarship fund, to be administered by WCEF. The remaining funds were used to establish an endowment in the amount of $10,000. The Walnut Creek Education Fund has adopted an endowment policy and plan to invest and grow this endowment

Why an endowment fund?

WCEF raises funds through a variety of ways. Different gifts help WCEF in different ways. Annual gifts are vital because they meet present needs, but their full value is spent each school year.

Endowment gifts provide a source of perpetual support for the foundation. Each new gift to the endowment adds to the initial DeSa Memorial endowment and provides the Foundation and thus the schools with greater financial security and freedom for generations to come.

Ways to give to the endowment

  • Make a gift directly to the endowment using our on line donation form
  • Donate a vehicle to WCEF. All proceeds from donated vehicles go directly to our endowment. WCEF K-12 has partnered with the V-DAC Vehicle Donation Program -- a free, convenient service for converting your extra car, truck, or RV into a tax-deductible donation benefiting our endowment program. You can learn more and then donate online by visiting the Vehicle Donation Program web site or call 877-999-8322 to make your donation.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust or Traditional Bequest. Planned giving is a wonderful way to continue to support WCEF K-12 and the future of the children of the Walnut Creek School District and Las Lomas High School.

We hope you'll consider including a gift to WCEF in your will or living trust. Called a charitable bequest, this type of gift offers these main benefits:

Simplicity. Just a few sentences in your will or trust are all that is needed.
Flexibility. Because you are not actually making a gift until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time.
Versatility. You can structure the bequest to leave a specific item or amount of money, make the gift contingent on certain events, or leave a percentage of your estate to us.
Tax Relief. If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift's full value.
