Help Us Maintain Excellence In Our School

As educators, providing a quality education is our responsibility in order to give our students the best possible opportunity for success in life. After recently completing the budget process for the 2006-07 school year, it is more evident than ever that private funding is crucial to our ability to provide the first-rate education our children deserve. Public funding alone is insufficient to meet our identified curriculum, program and student service needs.

The Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF K-12) is one of our primary sources of private funding that provides academic and enrichment programs and student services that benefit all of our students. New this year, WCEF K-12 will be launching a Spring Pledge Campaign for the 2006-07 academic year to more effectively align their funding cycle with our budget cycle.

At the beginning of May, you will receive a pledge packet from WCEF K-12 in the mail. Please review the packet carefully and return your pledge form with your pledge information and/or donation for the upcoming 2006-07 school year.

This Spring Pledge Campaign benefits our school and students by helping us firmly plan our expenditures for the coming year. It also benefits our families by allowing them to plan and defer or spread payment of contributions over a longer period of time.

Because of your donations to WCEF K-12, our students currently have the privilege of participating in standards-based academic and enrichment programs such as Art, Vocal Music and P.E. which enhance their overall educational experience. Equally important, these programs allow us the opportunity to achieve one of our primary strategic goals, teacher coaching and collaboration. Coaches work with teachers on the implementation of curriculum across grades and schools within our district in order to ensure student achievement. Through this continuous learning, collaboration, and a dedicated focus on improving practice, our teachers are able to overcome barriers to success for all students.

Without your support, these opportunities for our students and teachers simply would not exist. Please don't forget to turn in your WCEF K-12 pledge form by May 31st so that we can finalize our program offerings for 2006-07. Remember, it is only with your support that we will be able to maintain the excellence in education our community expects and our students deserve.
