The Crucial Role of the
Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF K-12)

To the Las Lomas Community:

WCEF K-12 is a vital funding partner of the Acalanes Union High School District (AUHSD) that has provided critical assistance to Las Lomas High School, particularly during the California budget crisis of the past few years. Our community values quality education and demands excellence in our schools. However, it is only with collaborative and sustainable funding from WCEF K-12 and a variety of sources such as Measure A that we are able to meet these high expectations of our students, parents and community.

To accommodate our identified 2006-2007 school year funding needs, WCEF K-12 will be kicking off their Spring Pledge Campaign at the beginning of May. Your continued support of their efforts is critical to ensure ongoing excellence in our schools that our students deserve. When you receive your pledge packet in the mail, please continue to give as generously as you can!

Your support of WCEF K-12 as part of our three-pronged funding paradigm is imperative to maintain the unparalleled quality of our schools.

First is the AUHSD which manages district, state, federal and parcel tax funds,
Second is WCEF K-12 which funds academic and enrichment programs and student support services,
Third is School Site Specific funding for individual site needs.

State, district and parcel tax funds do not provide for all of the programs the community has identified as essential to a quality education for all students. Without significant private donations to WCEF K-12 and the parents, music and boosters clubs, our ability to fully meet our goals will be severely constrained. These goals include providing the following programs and student services currently funded by WCEF K-12 that benefit all Las Lomas students:

Crisis Counseling
Instructional Materials
Technology
Science Supplies
Computer Lab Assistant
Miscellaneous Grants
