WCEF K-12 and WCI PTA Broaden Their Partnership

WCEF K-12 is very pleased to announce an enhanced partnership with WCI PTA. The most significant component of this change is the shift of fundraising responsibility from WCI PTA to WCEF K-12.

Effective with the 2006-2007 school year, WCI PTA will no longer collect the annual Squire Fund and will instead ask parents to direct their donations to WCEF K-12. As a result, WCEF K-12 will take over funding of additional key academic and enrichment programs and student services at WCI.

During the 2005-2006 school year, WCEF K-12 funded:

  • Curriculum Based Visiting Artist Program
  • Campus Safety Supervisor
  • Band and Art Supplies

For the 2006-2007 school year, the following will be added:

  • Homework Improvement Program
  • After School Programs
  • Assemblies
  • WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Program
  • Health and Safety
  • Half of One New Full Time Counselor

WCEF K-12 and Las Lomas High School have been operating very successfully under a partnership model similar to this for the past few years. It is a win-win situation for both WCI PTA and WCEF K-12 with the ultimate winners being our students! It allows the PTA to focus their efforts less on fundraising and more on their stated mission of advocacy, parent education, volunteer leadership and communication. This model maximizes fundraising capacity for WCEF K-12 so that we can better serve our schools and students.

Ultimately, the success of this change is dependent on parent and community support. As our Spring Pledge Campaign for the 2006-2007 school year begins in May, our goal is 100% participation! For more information, visit www.wcefk12.org.
